If there was any confusion on the attitude of the Tinkhundla Regime on going forward with embracing democratic ideals, the recent speech delivered by Mswati III, left no one in doubt of the hostilities that proponents of democracy can expect in the future. Warning the nation on “….. destructive acts”. he could not be clearer in regard to the intolerance that political activists will have to face.
PUDEMO’s President Mario Masuku’s health is still in a concerning condition, and the hope that he will make a quick recovery is not there, considering that the conditions he has to live under at Zakhele Remand Centre are still not conducive for someone of his unstable health.
We can glean some little comfort though from the knowledge that the release date for Thulani Maseko and Bheki Makhubu is edging closer, even though Zonke Dlamini and Amos Mbedzi are still facing lengthy jail terms.
As an organisation we can look forward to a revamped PUDEMO with forward looking Programmes of Action considering that the commissions have been hard at work reviewing old strategies and formulating new tactics to face the struggle which is ever in flux..
Let us move forward with the knowledge that ours is a just cause, and that regardless of the setbacks and the persecution, we will continue to stand firm with the knowledge that injustice is but a distorted shadow of justice and it is the just that prevail regardless the duration of the struggle; such is a historical fact and it stands undisputed.
